How cute is it to have a book full of drawings all about daddy that we can look through when the kids are older? 

Here is a DIY Father’s Day mini book that your kid can make. Wait until you see what ideas your children come up with! And don’t worry, I have a free template for you to use to make this homemade gift nice and easy.

How to Make a DIY Father’s Day Mini Book

Materials:

  • Cardstock paper
  • Father’s Day Mini Book template (scroll down to the bottom of the post for the download form)
  • Stapler
  • Coloring pencils
  • Scissors

Directions:

  1. Print the Father’s Day Mini Book template on cardstock paper. There are a few extra pages at the end in case you want to write your own prompts.
  2. Cut out each page.
  3. Have your child draw and color each page.
  4. Organize the pages in the order you prefer.
  5. Staple the edge together.

I encourage you not to guide your kid too much. Read the prompt and have them come up with what they want to draw. Prepare to be surprised!

My 3-year-old daughter initially wanted me to help her draw. She is a perfectionist and didn’t want to risk drawing something wrong. I told her that there is no right way to draw the pictures, whatever she wanted to do would be fine. 

My 6-year-old son took this Father’s Day mini book very seriously and carefully draw each page. You can tell by the details in his pictures.
