If you want to make sure the bookmark last, laminate the bookmark. This is optional but recommended since kids are not exactly the most gentle creatures.

Cut the bookmarks out. You can use the bookmark as is. If you want to make the tassel, read on!

Step 2: Make the Tassel

Make a hole at the top with the hole puncher.

Fold a piece of cardstock in half and then over until it’s been folded four times total. Alternatively, you can use a thick rectangular piece of cardboard.

Wrap the thread around the folded cardstock until you reach the desired thickness for your tassel. We wrapped ours about 40 times.

Carefully slide the thread off the cardstock. Keep the loop open with your finger. Cut the thread from the spool.

Cut a long piece of thread from the spool. Gently slide the thread through the loop and leave it loose.

Cut another long piece of thread and start wrapping it as tightly as you can around the top of the loop. This will create the cuff that keeps all the threads together. After you are finished wrapping, tie a tight knot. Trim off the excess thread.

Take your scissors and slide them into the middle of the loop. Cut the bottom of the loop to create the tassel. Trim the bottom to ensure that all your tassels are even.
