This gratitude dice game is a wonderful way to get your kids to talk about what they are thankful for. It’s the perfect game to play with family and friends this Thanksgiving!
You are walking through Target with your kid, and he wants everything in sight. Yup, even the toys he already has at home seem no longer functional and now he needs a brand new one.
“Mommy just bought that for you a couple of months ago,” you gently remind him.
“But I still want it!” your child whines, stumping his feet and giving you his best impression of a sad puppy.
It’s difficult to teach kids about gratitude. Their minds are often filled with “I want” instead of appreciating what they already have.
This Thanksgiving Gratitude Dice Game is a fun way to remind your kids what is important and what they should be thankful for in their lives. Plus, you might learn a thing or two about your kids by playing this game!
Printable Gratitude Dice Game for Families
Sitting down and having a serious conversation about gratitude with your preschooler, kindergartener, or even elementary school kids probably won’t last long. But add a die and make it a game that will get your kids talking about what they are thankful for.
The free printable Gratitude Dice Game (download form located at the end of this post) includes the following questions:
- Name a person you are thankful for.
- Name a memory you are thankful for.
- Name a food you are thankful for.
- Name a place you are thankful for.
- Name a thing you are thankful for.
- Name anything you are thankful for.
These questions will prompt your kids to think about people they have met, the interesting places they have visited, all the different food they have eaten, etc.
How to Play the Gratitude Game
Simply print out the Gratitude Game and grab a die. The free printable includes the game formatted as a full page, but also options for smaller game boards that you can cut out and distribute to multiple players.
I recommend playing this game with your kids and take turns rolling the die and answering the questions. The Gratitude Game is for you as well to reflect on your life as a parent and what you are thankful for amidst all the chaos. You might be surprised at what you come up with!
