Your kids will love these free printable Dr. Seuss coloring pages full of fun characters! They are the perfect companion to their favorite Dr. Seuss books.
Dr. Seuss’s birthday is coming up, and we are reading at least one book by Dr. Seuss a day in anticipation of National Read Across America Day. Let’s admit it, the books are so fun to read that it’s difficult to read just one.
To help celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday, here are coloring sheets of some of the most beloved characters from his books. They are perfect to bring with you when you are on a road trip or waiting at a doctor’s office. You can bring the books, read them to your kids, and then have them color with crayons or markers.
These free printable Dr. Seuss coloring pages are also great for classroom celebrations of Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Your students will love bringing these characters to life. They can color the characters with the classic colors from the books, or they can use their creativity and pick their own colors to fill in the coloring sheets. Who says the striped hat on the Cat in the Hat has to be red and white?

The Cat in the Hat Coloring Page
This coloring sheet features the Cat from The Cat in the Hat. He can do tricks, he can balance many items, and at the end of the book, he even cleaned up his own mess. The Cat wears a red and white striped top hat and a red bow tie but there is no reason why your kids couldn’t make the hat and bow tie blue or green or even rainbow-colored!
The Fish in the Cat in the Hat Coloring Page
This poor fish from The Cat in the Hat tried so hard to convince the children and the Cat to stop with all the tricks. This fish coloring page depicts how worried the fish was in the book. I remember feeling so bad for the fish because nobody was listening to him!
Thing One and Thing Two Coloring Page
The Cat in the Hat brought along his companions, Thing 1 and Thing 2. How surprised were you when these two identical characters popped out of the big red box?
Thing One and Thing Two sure are cute and funny, but they also gave me anxiety when they started knocking pictures off the wall! The kids thought it was hilarious to see the children in the book catch the Things in a net.
Horton Hears a Who! Coloring Page
It’s hard not to love Horton, the kind elephant who cares about others. Horton appears in many books, including Horton Hatches the Egg and Horton and the Kwuggerbug and More Lost Stories. This particular Dr. Seuss coloring page is from Horton Hears a Who!, where Horton saved the miniature world of Who-ville despite all the other animals’ objections.
A person’s a person, no matter how small.
The Lorax Coloring Page
This is the Lorax. He speaks for the trees and others who cannot speak for themselves. The Lorax is a great book to read to the kids to teach them about protecting the environment and standing up for others. This Lorax coloring page is perfect for Earth Day!
Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.
Fox from Fox in Socks Coloring Page
How fast can you read Fox in Socks aloud? This fun Dr. Seuss book is full of tongue-twisters!
Mr. Knox from Fox in Socks Coloring Page
Mr. Knox sure had a hard time keeping up with all of Fox’s tongue-twisters. We can empathize!
