Created by a former engineer and elementary teacher. Every printable is tested with children before release.
Students design and build a cage strong enough to hold a paper turkey, using mini marshmallows, toothpicks, straws, and whatever else is in the craft drawer. They sketch a plan and list their materials first, build it, then test whether the structure actually holds.
Four versions of the student instruction sheet let you frame the challenge either way – cage the turkey for Thanksgiving dinner, or build a shelter to save it – and each comes in single-turkey and multiple-turkey variants, so the difficulty scales with the group.
The full design cycle runs in about 40 minutes: plan, build, test, evaluate. Suits preschool through upper elementary as a whole-class challenge, a small-group station, or a homeschool unit.
